Peaches - AA XXX
Peaches hails from Canada, but currently lives in Berlin. I discovered her when a friend of mine recommended I listen to her. When I did, I was totally surprised by what I heard coming through the headphones and even more surprised that I actually liked it. Peaches music can be described as dance, electro, pop, experimental, and rock. Almost every song Peaches sing has something to do with sex in one way or another. Usually it’s in-your-face stuff like, “There’s only one peach with the hole in the middle” or “Shake your tits, shake your dick.” I tried introducing Peaches to a few people and almost all of them didn’t like her. My cousin went so far as to say it wasn’t music (which is a completely arbitrary thing to say). Yes, Peaches is crude, but there is something about her blatant honesty, assertiveness, and her willingness to express her sexuality that makes her so appealing. She says whatever she wants and you gotta love her for that, or at least give her some respect. An interesting side note: Peaches was roommates with folk/pop singer Feist in college. Amazing that they took two different musical paths ;)
One of my favorite songs by Peaches is AA XXX, coming off her second album, The Teaches of Peaches. The song will make your ears blush. It’s not entirely clear what the title of the song means, but generally, the song is about Peaches expressing her preference for the “innocent types” and wanting to get down and dirty with them.
