self is matt mahaffey. sure, he has some help sometimes but everything self is basically matt. he’s one of my all-time favorites. alot of people can’t get past the pop-ness of his songs, but i think he’s a genius. he’s really good at mashing up sounds and styles to create something unique. i’ve heard people compare self to beck’s odelay era, but i think he blows that out of the water. sometime in the future i’ll have to post something from self’s gizmodgery - an album composed entirely with toy instruments.
