Andreya Triana (Lady Drey) - Sweet Dreams Cover

The first Flying Lotus song I heard was Tea Leaf Dancers which, if you’re familiar with his work, is a little misleading. After hearing that song I went through all of his material looking for something similar. Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing, because some of his work is great, but he hasn’t made anything similar to Tea Leaf Dancers that I’ve been able to locate. Coming up short on the Fly-Lo side I looked into who provided the sultry vocals. It ended up being Andreya Triana. I remember Lady Drey from some YouTube videos I had seen where she uses an analogue loop machine to provide the drums, bass, and back up vocals for her performance. The Sweet Dreams cover demonstrates her technique very well. She lays down the bass, loops it, lays down some back-up vocals, loops it over the bass, sings a bit, then beat boxes the drums in and loops those as well. It’s an amazing cover of Sweet Dreams by one women providing the instrumentation for the entire song with just her vocals and a loop machine.
