Rokia Traore- M’bifo

i first saw this video while trolling ted.com. i rarely watch videos of the artists who perform there, but i decided to watch ms. traore. i didn’t know what to expect, i just hoped what i heard would interest me. clearly, it did. the music is simple, but subtle. her voice is tremendous. the supporting vocalist is wonderful in her own right. it’s ms. traore’s presence, though, and her passion that drew me in. she dominates the stage. her power is enhanced by the barely contained strength of her voice. it seems to push the limits she’s imposed on it, threatening to burst out violently. …and she’s gorgeous. there. i said it.

i couldn’t find a direct translation of the song, but i read a summary of it. it’s a song about space aliens.*  enjoy.

*yeah, yeah, i lied. make something of it.
