Joy Division- Love Will Tear Us Apart

i don’t know how i went so long without running into these guys. they are right up my alley. the story is a little more complex than that, actually. i heard about them time and time again when reading about other bands i like. for some reason, though, i never listened to their music. so, not too long ago, i saw some trailers for the movie ‘control’ which focused on the band and its troubled lead singer. well, i thought the movie looked good and i decided to give them another go. strangely, i didn’t like what i heard. it wasn’t until recently (re: a few months ago) that i actually gave them another go. i liked them immediately. i particularly liked ‘she’s lost control,’ ‘shadowplay,’ ‘transmission,’ and this song.

the music has a tense energy about it and ian curtis looms ominously over each track. much of the music is dark, but not always in a depressing way. at times the color or tenor is dark, but the music, strangely, prompts you to trash about maniacally. it’s fun to imagine each of you doing just that when you hear this song. enjoy.
