Fly- Dastardly Bastard
this is a band called fly. not to be confused with ‘the flys’ or the jazz trio that goes by the name now. their cd ‘bombthreat: before she blows’ came out in ‘97 and apparently i was one of the lucky 64 people to get one. i knew these guys weren’t a very big band, but i had no idea how small they were until i tried looking for info to post. i could barely find a picture! it’s a shame because i’ve always thought the album was good. all the tracks are pretty diverse and despite probably having a small budget for recording, they sound great. i like how whatever mic the singer uses gives his vocals a dirty feel without being too distorted. it’s hard to take a banjo out of it’s regular setting and make it sound serious, but fly manages to pull it off.
