Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova - Falling Slowly

Falling Slowly

Glen Hansard of The Frames and multi-instrumentalist Marketa Irglova came together for this beautifully amazing song that was featured in their film Once. Ironically, while touring they both for each other and ended up dating for about 2 years.

Alls well that ends well. Their relationship is over but this song is still just as fantastic. Its not often that I enjoy a duet. With duets, especially recently, the song is moreso a showcase for one person over the other. Either that or its just plain cheesy. Not so with this song. It is beautiful, passionate, melodic and honest all at once. Their voices blend synergistically into something that is simply magical. It also doesn’t hurt that I love the lilt of Irish voices. Its definitely one of those gems that is greater then the sum of its parts.

Shame on me, I still havn’t seen Once. It is definitely on my short list of things to do. Until then, I’ll enjoy this song. You do the same!

Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova - Falling Slowly

I don’t know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ll make it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You’ve made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing along
