Elis Regina- Roda

i thought i’d switch it up a bit this time. i’m a fan of brazilian music. i still don’t know as much about it as i’d like, but ive done a little research and elis regina is one of the better brazilian singers i’ve come across thus far. i really like caetano veloso as well, but that’s neither here nor there. and astrud gilberto. i’m not entirely sure how i discovered ms. regina, but it’s still one of my happier discoveries to date. she has an absolutely wonderful voice, and she infuses her music with a certain fun and humor. i think that comes through in this particular song. that’s why i decided to share it with you. ‘roda’ is a charming, energetic, and enthusiastic song that captures what i like best in her music. even when she sings something a little slower or more romantic, there’s still an element of playfulness and personality. i’ve yet to really delve into her catalougue, but i’ve liked virtually everything i’ve heard thus far. i’m especially fond of the album ‘elis & tom.’ that’s some great stuff. so, here’s elis in all her glory. enjoy.
