Gorillaz - Don’t Get Lost in Heaven/Demon Days
this song is hypnotic. it’s one of those songs that just takes you into it’s own world. these are two songs that end the album ‘demon days.’ the first song is don’t get lost in heaven. everyone has a different definition of heaven on earth, a homerun night, or a beautiful situation. this song tells a story full of drug references and warns about getting lost in a euphoric situation and going too far.
the song then transitions into the next ‘demon days’, which skyrockets you to a different atmosphere and has the most unexpected “caribbean” sounding gospel choir. ‘demon days’ is what it is, it talks about all the hell going around in society. one of my favorite lines is “You can’t even trust the air you breathe Cause Mother Earth has a soul to leave.” demon days leaves you with a positive and hopeful message to pick yourself up and move forward. look towards the sun, the object that keeps us all alive.
