U.G.K.- I Left It Wet For You

i grew up listening to u.g.k. and continue to enjoy them to this day. they created a particular brand of southern music that still separates them from other artists. pimp c was a gifted producer who crafted a sound that complemented his own arrogant and charismatic flow, as well as that of his more lyically-inclined partner. together they created an interesting dynamic. pimp usually provided over-the-top sex and crime-ridden moments. in one of my favorite verses, he says, “if i told you cocaine numbers, you would think i was lying. young as niggas 22 and talking about they retiring.” bun was more grounded of the two. his verses contained the more clever lines, but also the more introspective lyrics. the combination had a certain magic to it. i can’t get enough of their music, from ‘too hard to swallow’ on down the line. so, turn your speakers all the way up and enjoy a little taste of port arthur, texas. you’ll be glad you did.
