i’ve heard many versions of this song. i don’t know if this one is my favorite of them, but it’s close. chet baker’s voice gives the song a certain heat. it smolders. it’s almost like he’s spittin’ game and he’s just gotten to the point where he feels he has her. something mighty fine is about to go down. that’s not the feeling i get when other people sing it. it’s more an playful ode to a significant other. the whole, ‘you’re so goofy, but i could just eat your face. my goofy little faceless boo’ type thing. this is certainly more sensual. it’s more ‘you aren’t really going anywhere. get your cute, quirky ass over here so i can **** **** your **** in the ***** for the next 12 hours.’ yeah. it’s like that. enjoy.
