isaac hayes was truly a soulful man. he dug deep for this song. here he relates the story of a man who has fallen deeply in love with a woman who is in a relationship. he’s completely aware that he should walk away and that his feelings are misplaced, but it doesn’t matter. he’s proud to love her and wants nothing more to have her love him despite present circumstances. truly a sad state to be in. *sniff* why am i crying??
