Jeremy Enigk- Shade and the Black Hat

i’ve wanted to post this song for a long time. i’m not entirely sure why. but here it is. it’s from jeremy enigk’s album ‘return of the frog queen’ which was released in 1996. it’s hard to describe why i like it. i just do. i hope you like it as well.

Shade and the black hat don’t tell me
i’ve paid my regards pouring in wine

what i’ve seen it tears me inside
can they hear me when i speak

my knees bowed

who fell here time away
shame married to go towards
don’t tell me i’ve paid my regards
pouring in wine what i’ve seen
it tears me apart can they hear me
when i speak my tongue’s tied.
