Cream- Born Under a Bad Sign
a supergroup from yesteryear. this is a wonderful song. a part of me gets a little irritated when i hear this music. it’s a little embarrassing to admit this. i always have a moment when i feel umbrage on behalf of blues artists. sometimes i’ll have a moment when i’ll sneer at this derivative music. of course that isn’t fair. i just feel bad sometimes that the rolling stones, led zeppelin, and other bands blew up while they’re blues heroes languished in obscurity. i’m a growing blues man, i hope to be the genuine article one day, and i like to listen to it. and i feel like the blues is roots music as well. i didn’t expect to take this post in this direction. anyway, i apologize to cream and those other bands. they are great in their own right. this song is an example of that. enjoy.
Born under a bad sign.
I’ve been down since I began to crawl.
If it wasn’t for bad luck,
I wouldn’t have no luck at all.
Bad luck and trouble’s my only friend,
I’ve been down ever since I was ten.
Born under a bad sign.
I’ve been down since I began to crawl.
If it wasn’t for bad luck,
I wouldn’t have no luck at all.
You know, wine and women is all I crave.
A big bad woman’s gonna carry me to my grave.
Born under a bad sign.
I’ve been down since I began to crawl.
If it wasn’t for bad luck,
I wouldn’t have no luck at all.
Bad luck and trouble’s been my only friend,
I’ve been down ever since I was ten.
Born under a bad sign.
I’ve been down since I began to crawl.
If it wasn’t for bad luck,
I wouldn’t have no luck.
If it wasn’t for real bad luck,
I wouldn’t have no luck at all.
Born under a bad sign.
Born under a bad sign.
