Gabriela Robin- Moon

technically, gabriela robin is a mysterious performer who works only with japanese composer kanno yoko. earlier this year, kanno yoko performed as gabriela robin for the first time in public. what a shocking revelation (oh my!)! i guess it was a garth brooks, chris gaines type thing. this song, moon, was featured in the anime ∀ gundam which aired in 1999. kanno yoko’s most famous work to date has probably been on the popular series cowboy bebop. she infused that series with a heavily jazz-influenced (peep the vid or you’ll develop bunions!) sound. it’s worth checking out. she’s also worked on wolf’s rain, escaflowne, macross plus, jin roh, and the ghost in the shell anime series among others. i really enjoy her music. i chose this song because i like it, but also because she sings it. typically other singers sing over her compositions. it’s cool to see that she can do it all.

ah. the lyrics. she lyrics aren’t in any particular language. apparently she took sounds from other languages and created her own thing. sometimes it sounds like latin, at other times like russian, at others like japanese. it’s nice.
