Lonely-Bebel Gilberto

I posted the remix that my friend did to a Bebel Gilberto song, but I listened a little longer to the album that she currently has out, and this short track is labeled “Lonely”. It’s a very smooth track, and although I don’t understand much of what she is saying in the song (because it’s in Portuguese), I feel connected somehow. I looked up the lyrics and find it interesting that she chose to have the whole song in her native language besides the words “Lonely”, as in that’s what seems to be most important about the song. Through it all, loneliness stands out. There is nothing in the empty spaces. Except…loneliness. It’s a perfect song to wind down the day, and to come to terms with whatever emotion you may be feeling. Her voice is immaculate and says so much even with the lost in translation feel.

LYRICS:

Foi voce quem me ensinou
A ouvir
Foi voce que soube achar isso em mim

Sem te ver
Nao sei mais o que sentir
So ouvindo aquele espaco ali

Lonely, Lonely

Todo dia te sinto
E fico pensando que voce pode ate me ouvir (bis)

Lonely, Lonely, Lonely, Lonely.

Translation:

It was you who thought me
To listen
It was you who found it in me

Without seeing you
It’s hard to know how to feel
Just listening to that space out there

Lonely, Lonely

Everyday I feel you
And can’t help thinking you can hear me too (bis)

Lonely, Lonely, Lonely, Lonely
