Happy Birthday DC! Now Where’s My Cake?

These posts all, for one reason or another, remind me why I love DailyCrack so much. It’s been a very interesting year and I’m sure there will be many more to come.

In no particular order, here are my Top 5 Posts of the past year. I hope you all enjoy some of these as much as I have.

My very first post. Especially special because I adore this song. So passionate and absolutely gorgeous whether you speak the language or not. A great song to get me rolling as a Crack staffer.

It’s not often that a single song will get me hooked on an artist and this was one of those posts. I had never heard Janelle Monae before this song was put up and once I heard it it was absolutely infectious.

This post hooked not one, but TWO Crack staffers on the group. Aaaaaand…it was just a mad funny write up. If I hadn’t planned on listening to the song before, I definitely had to after my laughter subsided. Great song. Great write up.

One of the things I love about this site is that all of the contributors have a genuine love for music. Whether its scholarly or casual, we all love to sit around with a few records and just groove. This song is one of those obscure songs that you just don’t get to hear very often but when you do…oh man. I love that we’re not focused on whats new or whats (insert adjective here). We just focus on what we love.

Most of the DC contributors don’t know each other. Reading this post made me want to get to know Skinny Miracle. It was so thoughtful and vulnerable - I really just appreciated that someone could be real with a bunch of strangers. His story made the song more special for me when I listened to it because it was sharing a little piece of his soul. Hate to sound cheesy but it is what it is.
