Led Zeppelin - Since I’ve Been Loving You

My first encounter with Led Zeppelin was staring at the weird ass album cover to Led Zeppelin III when I was like 4 or 5. While my dad was at work I always used to flip through all the albums at the crazy pictures and images. The inside of the album cover actually spun too so that was like playing with one of those viewfinders for me. I was not allowed to actual play any of his records back then, since I had my own records and my own fisher price turntable with a hot collectio of raffi and michael jackson, but that image always stuck in my head. I was finally able to jack my dad for this actual album last year so I can finally look at it all the time.
“Since I’ve Been Loving You” is a bad ass blues song where Led Zeppelin basically show off their greatness. Robert Plant’s vocals are beautiful, heartfelt, and truly emotional. Jimmy Page smacks you in the head and tells you he is a guitar god throughout the whole song. Then John Paul Jones pretty much toys with my baptist and gospel background with the hammond organ. I mean the breakdown with the organ stabs, they’re taking it to church.
My favorite verse from the song is:
Do you remember mama, when I knocked upon your door?
I said you had the nerve to tell me you didn’t want me no more, yeah
I open my front door, hear my back door slam,
You must have one of them new fangled back door man.
That’s just heartfelt blues right there to me. Just a random ass line about that damn new fangled door.
Enjoy.
Working from seven to eleven every night,
It really makes life a drag, I don’t think that’s right.
I’ve really, really been the best of fools, I did what I could.
‘Cause I love you, baby, How I love you, darling, How I love you, baby,
How I love you, girl, little girl.
But baby, Since I’ve Been Loving You. I’m about to lose my worried mind, oh, yeah.
Everybody trying to tell me that you didn’t mean me no good.
I’ve been trying, Lord, let me tell you, Let me tell you I really did the best I could.
I’ve been working from seven to eleven every night, I said It kinda makes my life a drag.
Lord, that ain’t right…
Since I’ve Been Loving You, I’m about to lose my worried mind.
Said I’ve been crying, my tears they fell like rain,
Don’t you hear, Don’t you hear them falling,
Don’t you hear, Don’t you hear them falling.
Do you remember mama, when I knocked upon your door?
I said you had the nerve to tell me you didn’t want me no more, yeah
I open my front door, hear my back door slam,
You must have one of them new fangled back door man.
I’ve been working from seven, seven, seven, to eleven every night, It kinda makes my life a drag…
Baby, Since I’ve Been Loving You, I’m about to lose, I’m about lose to my worried mind.
