Bjork feat. Thom Yorke- Nattura

bjork composed this song with aid from singer thom yorke of radiohead and drummer brian chippendale of lightning bolt. she’s worked with both artists before; thom and bjork sang a duet called ‘i’ve seen it all’ for the film ‘dancer in the dark,’ and brian played drums magnificently on ‘the dull flame of desire,’ a song which appears on her most recent album volta.

this time she teamed up with these artists on  behalf of the icelandic environmental campaign nattura (proceeds from itunes were contributed to the campaign).  i am a huge bjork fan- i like virtually anything she does (i’d drink her bathwater as we used to say). this song is no exception. the song is chaotic, frenetic, and complex. i am disappointed that thom, another of my favorite artists, didn’t provide more vocals. i was eager to hear the song because i am such fans of both artists. they seem to share a musical sensibility and to admire each other’s work (click here to see thom perform a cover of bjork’s song ‘unravel’). you can hear him in the background, but barely. i wish he had a more prominent role.

brian, on the other hand, dominates this song. his drums are what make the song what it is. he is it’s manic and effervescent heart. i hope you like it.
