King Khan & the Shrines - 69 Faces of Love

I think the first song i heard from king khan & the shrines was torture.  it has such an old school rock feel where i immediately could picture myself watching and dancing to them in concert. unfortunately i missed their first concert in atlanta, but they will be back in about a week or two, so i gotta make it.  here’s an excerpt from wikipedia about their performances

The band is noted for its impressive stage antics. Typically King Khan is scantily clad, and the overwhelming frontman. His performances feature a cheerleader, and a mixture of instrumentation including, but not limited to: keyboard, baritone saxophone, guitar, bass, and drums.

i love wild ass performers that put their all in to the live show.  this description immediately reminds me of my bootleg parliament-funkadelic dvd from one of their performances in the 70s.  you didn’t even have to be high… (even though everyone was) to get caught up in to the emotion and presentation of that show.  from the wild outfits to the big soul band music.  king khan and the shrines do something a little different, but as a front man it seems as though the king goes for it and he has a large band followign him.  overall i love their music it is fun, entertaining, and it just captures you in their world.  i cannot wait for my experience with the king and the opportunity to be engulfed by his shrines.

some of my other favorites on the ‘what is’ album are ‘welfare bread,’ ‘(how can i keep you) outta harms way,’ & ‘i see lights’

unfortunately no lyrics, but listen and you’ll figure it all out
