Kudu - Love Me In Your Language

Kudu is an acid jazz/electronic trio consisting of Sylvia Gordon, Deantoni Parks and Nick Kasper. You might recognize Sylvia from her feature on Spank Rock’s “B.O.O.T.A.Y.” and if you didn’t recognize her, shame on you. Ms. Sylvia is one incredible and dirty female vocalist. One of the main reasons why I even love Kudu so much is due to her personality which oozes all over their album, Death of the Party. The fact that she has impressive band mates is an added bonus.

The album itself is all over the place but Kudu effectively harnesses multiple styles to suit their sound. Love Me In Your Language is one of those examples. Over a 80s pop synth and heavy drums, Sylvia explains her dilemma of finding men all over the world but not being able to understand their language. Her solution? She doesn’t need to know the language..she just needs him to “say it like a man.” You can also view the video here.

Lyrics

(Sylvia singing in Japanese)

I met a man in Japan and he was a fan and he had a plan.
He said (Japanese)
But I was in a foreign land, I really didn’t understand until he took my hand and said
(Japanese)

Oh talk to me. Love me in your language, baby.
I don’t have to understand, if you say it like a  man. (Yeah)

I met a boy in Berlin. He was tall and thin. He had nice skin.
He said (German)
But I was in a foreign land, I really didn’t understand until he took my hand
He said (German)

Oh talk to me. Love in you language, baby.
I don’t have to understand, if you say it like a man. (Yeah)
Come on and talk to me, love me in your language.

I don’t understand the words that are  coming out of your mouth.
But I think I understand, what you’re talking about.
You want to tell me something that is clear.
You want to tell me something, I’ve been dying to hear.

So talk to me, love me in your language baby.
I don’t have to understand, if you say it like a man.

So talk to me, love in your language, baby.
I don’t have to understand, if you say it like a man. (Yeah)

I met a boy in Brazil, up on a hill.
Gave me a pill, we were feeling chill.
He said (Portuguese)
But I was in a foreign land, I didn’t really understand until he took my hand
He said (Portuguese)

Talk to me. Love me in your language, baby.
I don’t have to understand, if you say it like a man. (Yeah)

So come on and talk to me. Love in your language, baby.
I don’t have to understand, if you say it like a man. (Yeah)

Yeah, like a man, man
Yeah like a man, yeah yeah, like a man yeah yeah.
