Interpol- NYC

every now and then it’s fun to revisit a song that was once a vital part of my music collection. i never listen to this song or this album anymore. at one point, though, i listened to it incessantly. at the time it felt as though they group had written a song with my very essence. it seemed the song spoke to and for me in a way i hadn’t experienced in a long time. since then, i’ve found other songs that inspired that same feeling and this song, once an important part of my life, faded away.

i’m posting it now because i still like the song although i rarely listen to it. maybe it will speak to some of you the way it used to speak to me. and if not, maybe it will remind you of a song that once held a special place in your life. enjoy.

I had seven faces
Thought I new which one to wear
But I’m sick of spending these lonely nights
Training myself not to care
The subway is a porno
The pavements they are a mess
I know you’ve supported me for a long time
Somehow I’m not impressed
But

[Chorus]

New York cares
(Got to be some more change in my life)

The subway she is a porno
The pavements they are a mess
I know you’ve supported me for a long time
Somehow I’m not impressed

It is up to me now, turn on the bright lights
