Ted Leo + The Pharmicists - Little Dawn

Ted Leo

Whenever I go to a concert, I dread the opening act. Perhaps this is because I have seen so many disastrous ones. The worst one I ever witnessed was Halloween 2002 at Incubus’s Morning View Tour. Since it was halloween, my friends and I initially thought it was a joke. The joke was on us however - the guy stayed on stage for almost an hour.

A couple years ago I took a friend to see Death Cab for Cutie. We arrived on time and I gritted my teeth as the opening act stepped on stage. To my surprise, by the end of the set I was running to the merchandise tables to buy their CD. Even with the flu, Ted Leo rocked that mutha out!

I think this is a case where I’d prefer to let the music speak for itself. Its fun, energetic, and has a unique sound. If your curiosity is peaked, Ted Leo has been active since 1989 so there is plenty for you to investigate.  TL/Rx (the abbr. name of the group you are listening to right now) has released 5 albums. He was also a member of the bands Citizens Arrest, Chisel and The Sin-Eaters. Enjoy!

Ted Leo + The Pharmicists - Little Dawn

Well Little Dawn walks on,
and she thinks she don’t belong under the starry heights
So take a sigh as long as the war’s been going on in your heart tonight
And if you want to make that light, go on and swim across the ocean
And if you want to make it right, go on and put your plan in motion
The gap is only as wide as the hollow of the sky between you, my dear
And the truth, absolute,
adding naught more profound to it than that you are here
And if you want to keep it bright, well you might have to burn a candle
And if you want to keep it tight, well you might have to learn to handle
But on the days and nights its hard to breathe
and you can’t believe you still walk the streets
Stretch out your weary hand to me - it’s alright
And if you’re not content to just believe
And if you don’t consent to just let it be
Stretch out your legs and dance with me all night, tonight
It’s alright (repeat)
