Meiko - Fever (Otis Blackwell and Peggy Lee Cover)

I started listening to Meiko when I kept seeing songs by her pop up on tumblr. Eventually I got curious enough to listen to her music and I have been ever since. In fact, she has quickly become one of the top music artists I listen to. I absolutely love her voice, which is simple, but earnest, and her songs that is of the same nature. Interestingly, Meiko was born and raised in Roberta, Georgia, but when you hear her sing there really isn’t much of a southern accent. Sometimes you might hear it, but then again it’s so subtle that you won’t be positive.
Essentially, Meiko sings a mixture of pop and folk. She writes all of her songs, which makes listening to her more of an intimate experience. One of my favorite songs by her is Fever, which is a cover song originally done by Otis Blackwell and Peggy Lee. There have been many reiterations of this song, but Meiko makes it her own.
Never know how much I love you
Never know how much I care
When you put your arms around me
I get a fever that’s so hard to bare
You give me fever
When you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever
In the morning
And Fever all through the night
Sun lights up the daytime
And the Moon lights up the night
I light up when you call my name
And you know I’m gonna treat you right
You give me fever
When you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever
In the morning
And Fever all through the night
Everybody got the fever
It’s all something you all know
Fever isn’t such a new thing
Fever started long ago
Everybody got the fever
It’s all something you all know
Everybody got the fever
Fever started long ago
You give me fever
When you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever
In the morning
And Fever all through the night
What a lovely way to burn
What a lovely way to burn
What a lovely way to burn
What a lovely way to burn
