Young @ Heart - Fix You

It takes a lot (a lot) to defrost the ice-box where my heart used to be. The first time I saw this video I was impressed. Old men singing reminds me of my Grandfather. Then I looked into the background of the video and it got me a little touched up. I was going to explain the story behind the video but I felt like I was plagiarizing wikipedia from memory, so, here’s what wikipedia has to say:

“The group’s performance was led by former chorus member Fred Knittle, who suffered from congestive heart failure and breathed with assistance from an oxygen tank. The performance was originally planned to be a duet between Knittle and Bob Salvini, another former chorus member, but Salvini died shortly before the show. Knittle performed it as a solo, as a tribute to his friend.”

It should also be noted that the women they keep cutting to are family members of Mr. Salvini. In the midst of losing a friend, Knittles performance is brave. It’s a touching tribute to a friend whom he lost before they could share the stage with one another. Hearing Knittle sing “Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try, to fix you” to his lost friend is as moving as nomads. Enjoy.
