30 Seconds to Mars - Was It A Dream?
30 Seconds to Mars is a rock band originating from Los Angeles, California. I came across them when I was watching music videos on Yahoo. The video player was on random and when 30 Seconds to Mars music video came on, it immediately caught my attention, along with the music. The video was a compilation of live footage taken from 30 Seconds to Mars tour. I was amazed how passionate the crowd was and surprised I didn’t hear of a rock band like them with such a strong fan base before. I quickly downloaded some tracks by them, loved it, and got their albums soon afterwards. If you’re interested, the video that I seen can be found here.
I think what makes 30 Seconds to Mars standout is their experimental use of drums and keyboards, and Jared Leto’s voice, the lead vocalist for the band. When Jared yells, it sounds as if it’s filled with genuine emotion and makes listening to the band’s songs more of an intimate experience. One of my favorite songs by them is Was It A Dream, coming off their second album, A Beautiful Lie. The song has Jared singing about a past relationship with a loved one and having only a photograph as proof of that relationship. The song is quite moving and I love the fact that Jared doesn’t over do it with the vocals. Enjoy.
