A Perfect Circle - Gravity

One of my favorite songs by A Perfect Circle is Gravity, coming off their second studio album, Thirteenth Step. The song is open to interpretation, but it’s clear the speaker in the song has gone through a tough time in life, hinting strongly at drug addiction, and is ready for something deeper and meaningful, even if he or she may not understand it. The beat and rhythm of the song is richly engaging, emphasizing Maynard Jeenan’s words (lead vocalist for the band), capturing the listener and touching him or her on a personal level.
I came across A Perfect Circle when I saw their video for Weak And Powerless, which can be found here. After seeing it, I decided not to listen to them in dept right away because I felt I wasn’t ready to. See, I think music is like books, sometimes it’s best to read something later in life that way you’ll have a better understanding of it. I knew I would like A Perfect Circle, but I thought it would be best to wait a bit before I really listened to them, that way I’d appreciate their music better.
Lost again
Broken and weary
Unable to find my way
Tail in hand
Dizzy and clearly unable to
Just let this go
I am surrendering to the gravity and the unknown
Catch me heal me lift me back up to the sun
I choose to live
I fell again
Like a baby unable to stand on my own
Tail in hand
Dizzy and clearly unable to just let this go
High and surrendering to the gravity and the unknown
Catch me heal me lift me back up to the sun
I choose to live, I choose to live, I choose to live
Catch me heal me lift me back up to the sun
Help me survive the bottom
Calm these hands before they
Snare another pill and
Drive another nail down another
Needy hole please release me
I am surrendering to the gravity and the unknown
Catch me heal me lift me back up to the sun
I choose to live, I choose to live
