While I’m still battling this month long bout of bronchitis, I am feeling much better today then I have in a while. And in my surge of feeling good I started watching one of the greatest movies ever - Mr. Holland’s Opus! oK I know what you’re thinking but give me a break, I love that movie. And of course my favorite scene is always when Richard Dreyfuss sings Beautiful Boy to his son Cole. It is FAN-TAS-TIC. Always makes me tear up.

my beloved calidre is ill. she came out of her delirium to ask one thing of me: to post this song. but she also asked one thing of you. *sniff* she wants you to love this song as much as she does. *sniff* this is hard. she said that ms. brown’s sultry, buttery voice envelopes her in her sickness. when i heard that, i immediately began composing a letter to ms. brown to tell her that she was the only thing keeping my darling munchkin calidre alive. so, calidre’s ‘wish’ (think make-a-wish) is for you all to dig this song. do it for calidre, and hope she gets over this recent bout of cooties or whatever she has. ;)

Sliimy - Magic Game

Perhaps the greatest thing to happen to French electro-pop since…French electro-pro (???), Sliimy (rhymes with Jimmy) has blown up in France and the UK since the release of his debut album Paint Your Face. I didn’t know anything about him until last night when I read an article in an issue of The Advocate that had been sitting on my coffee table for a few months. They made several references to him and Prince (early Prince sound…awesome Prince-like hair…avant garde-ish) which meant I had to check him out.

So far…I’ve liked what I’ve heard but my two favorites as of today are this song and his cover of Womanizer. His CD was released stateside in September so you can pick it up here if you are so interested.

Blink 182 - I Miss You

Blink182 is one of the greatest garage rock bands of all time. Not only did they put together some high quality music (as evidenced in this song) but they were also fun and silly and could make you laugh. And believe me, that is just as important as the high brow stuff. Dysentery Gary and The Party Song still make me laugh after all of these years. Sometimes I get a little bit tired of everyone trying to say something (and failing a lot of the time) and just want to put on something that’s fun. So here’s to fun. Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance

I think that I might have gone a little crazy trying to figure this one out. Apparently Lee Ann Womack recorded two versions of this song - the original country version and another more poppy version. They even have different groups contributing background vocals. I was really confused when I found the version I wasn’t used to hearing.

So…I’m not sure which version this is but I still enjoy it. It’s really just a lovely song with some of the best lyrics of our generation. So I hope you enjoy and get a dance or two in.

I hate reblogging songs. I really do. But as I scrolled the dashboard today, M-IN-E had posted this track. I gave it a listen (I had to - I love all things Adele) and can I just say….DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPENESS!!! This junk is fire and it is my duty to spread it to the masses.

So…thank you M-IN-E and I’m sorry for swinging on your jock strap so hard today. But uber-thanks for bringing my attention to this song. My love for Santigold has just grown like the Grinch’s heart…3 sizes in one day.

This song is a standard selection for any reputable 80s party. It has everything you can ask of a quality 80s song - synthesizers, angst and catchy lyrics.

I was watching Center Stage for the first time a few nights ago and…I don’t know why but this song reminds me of the movie so much. Was it playing in the background of some scene? Or did I just really think it fit in?
