Dave Matthews Band- Where Are You Going?

Modest Mouse- The Good Times Are Killing Me

Hall & Oates- She’s Gone

Happy Birthday DC! Now Where’s My Cake?

These posts all, for one reason or another, remind me why I love DailyCrack so much. It’s been a very interesting year and I’m sure there will be many more to come.

In no particular order, here are my Top 5 Posts of the past year. I hope you all enjoy some of these as much as I have.

My very first post. Especially special because I adore this song. So passionate and absolutely gorgeous whether you speak the language or not. A great song to get me rolling as a Crack staffer.

It’s not often that a single song will get me hooked on an artist and this was one of those posts. I had never heard Janelle Monae before this song was put up and once I heard it it was absolutely infectious.

This post hooked not one, but TWO Crack staffers on the group. Aaaaaand…it was just a mad funny write up. If I hadn’t planned on listening to the song before, I definitely had to after my laughter subsided. Great song. Great write up.

One of the things I love about this site is that all of the contributors have a genuine love for music. Whether its scholarly or casual, we all love to sit around with a few records and just groove. This song is one of those obscure songs that you just don’t get to hear very often but when you do…oh man. I love that we’re not focused on whats new or whats (insert adjective here). We just focus on what we love.

Most of the DC contributors don’t know each other. Reading this post made me want to get to know Skinny Miracle. It was so thoughtful and vulnerable - I really just appreciated that someone could be real with a bunch of strangers. His story made the song more special for me when I listened to it because it was sharing a little piece of his soul. Hate to sound cheesy but it is what it is.

Happy (Belated) Birthday Your Daily Crack!

It’s hard to believe that YDC has reached it’s one year mark and while I am not a major contributor, I still love and enjoy posting music to share with the site. I’m hopeful that the site will continue to grow and be recognized for its diversity and greatness in the near future.

To celebrate, I was asked to post my favorite five tracks from the past year, so here they are.

5. Betty Davis-70s Blues

4. Broken Social Scene-7/4 Shoreline (feat. Feist)

3. Van Hunt-Who Will Love Me In Winter

2. Erykah Badu- Didn’t Cha Know

1. De La Soul- A Roller Skating Jam Named “Saturdays”

Porno is My Weakness, Please Believe me (Some sleepers from our first year)

Happy birthday to Daily Crack. I’ve enjoyed being able to contribute when I could. There’s not much of a theme to the five posts that I selected. With the exception of the Moises post (My Weakness is just a great song) the other four songs are those that I think may have flew under the radar. The bonus video just needs to be viewed as often as possible and deserves all the attention it can get.

Post aside, thank you to anyone that follows. I hope you’ve enjoyed the we’ve music posted as much as we do. Happy Holidays!

one note wonders

we’re one now. go us! to celebrate, i put this list together. i’m the type who roots for the underdog, particularly that dog is a little guy like me. so when choosing my five songs, i decided to pick songs that hadn’t gotten enough love- the one note wonders. for those of you who aren’t tumblr residents, people with tumblr accounts can ‘like’ or reblog posts they enjoy. each like or reblog is called a note. the posts below are posts that were ‘liked’ or reblogged only once. i say we do something about that! support these posts! tell them they’re important! tell them that women are attracted to them and they WILL get married at some point. *ahem*

enjoy.

Had to spread the word on this one ya’ll

the skinny centurion

today i am 100 posts old. instead of posting one song, i thought i’d share five of my favorite songs posted by fellow daily crack posters and five of my own. i added ‘greasy spoon’ as a bonus track because it was my first contribution to the blog. this is by no means a comprehensive list; these aren’t my ten favorite songs on the blog. i chose the songs because i like them, but i also wanted to choose songs by five different crack staffers, songs from different genres, and songs that make the blog interesting to me. i know i left some people out, and i apologize. it was hard to choose (we can fight if you want to).

anyway, i’ve enjoyed doing this and look forward to my next 100 posts.

  1. haiti
  2. after the rain
  3. go!
  4. breathe again
  5. soul amazing
  6. comin’ out hard
  7. rainha
  8. in the mausoleum
  9. millions
  10. belarus

Bonus Track: greasy spoon
