Kanno Yoko feat. Origa- Inner Universe
i posted something by this composer a year ago. i figured why not share this song as well. it’s the theme from s.a.c. i remember watching the series when it aired. it felt like an event. inner universe is an energetic, melodic, and busy song. there’s a lot going on. but i enjoy all of it.

MGMT- Electric Feel
i’d make fun of the video, but i like the song too much. it reminds me of ‘go,’ a song by non+ that schwing posted a while back. you can listen to it here if you’re so inclined.

Fever Ray- Here Before
this is a cover of a vashti bunyan song that was released in 2005. you can listen to the original version here. it’s a gorgeous song, really, but i’m a member of team karin, of team…SWEDEN! that’s right. it’s another hit from team sweden. fever ray adds their moody, slightly off-kilter style to ms. bunyan’s song, and the results are magnificent. it’s darker, it’s weirder, it’s better. well, you can decide that last part yourselves. enjoy.

Nightmares on Wax- Damn
Lately, I’ve really started to get into electronic music. This interest came about when I discovered the Avalanches and their awesome album “Since I Left You” and it’s exploded from there. Through the miracle known as Pandora, I discovered Nightmares on Wax. This is one my favorite songs by the group. If it sounds familiar, it’s become it uses the same Al Hirt “Harlem Hendoo” sample De La Soul uses in their song Ego Trippin’ (Part Two). Greatness begets greatness begets greatness.

The Chordettes - Lollipop (Squeak E. Clean & Desert Eagles Remix)

WHAT?!?!
This song is like crack (heh heh). I have not been able to stop listening to this infectious remix all weekend. Like the original wasn’t hard enough to get out of your head! If the original was a virus then this remix is like an antibiotic resistant strain.
Alright…enough nerdy references. Enjoy the crack!

Baths- Lovely Bloodflow
i really like this video. it does a good job of selling the song. who knows what the director or the artists was going for, but i think successful parings like this one (songs + video) make for an engaging experience. that so true in this case, that i’m almost afraid to listen to the song without the visuals. i’m sure i’d still like it (it’s interesting), but i don’t think i’d like it as much.

Nosaj Thing- Reckoner Remix (originally by Radiohead)
i was a bit leery about listening to this remix for two reasons: (1) this is one of my favoring songs ever; and (2) i read that nosaj is similar to flying lotus, and i didn’t like flying lotus’ remix of this song at all. now, i admit number two is unfair, but it made me skeptical nonetheless. anyway, i listened to it, and i like it. he left enough of the original to keep the appeal, but he tweaked it enough to call it his own. excellent stuff. enjoy.

Balam Acab- See Birds
when i listen to this song, i imagine hearing it in movie credits or something. a thriller or something. i don’t know. i tend toward the grandiose, so i can definitely see this in some haunting film about murder in the dark streets of some ultra-urban metropolis. death. death and destruction, i say. actually, it isn’t so bleak. it’s a little dark, yes, but it’s got a nice vibe to it.

The Name -You Want it Back Now
Another song I was listening to on my way to NJ yesterday was this gem. It has an awesome electronic beat in the beginning, with a house feel and then some rock. This song is just the shit. With such a good message, and a great breakdown around 1:03. Wait for it…..
