Little Dragon- Ritual Union
their new album (ritual union) hasn’t exactly grown on me yet, but i’m sure it will. always does. this song definitely is helping make it happen.

Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry On Their Own
I can and can’t believe Amy Winehouse is dead. As a music lover, I’ve been hoping for the last few years that she’d beat the demon of addiction. She was one of the most talented artists of our generation with a unique voice that captured jazz and soul lovers on both sides of the pond.
Like MJ, her antics led her personal life to shadow her artistry but girly was still fierce. Today I mourn the music that will never be and the depth of pain that must of caused her to constantly feel the need to escape reality.
Back to Black will always be one of my favorite albums of all time. Stay tuned for DailyCrack’s tribute to Winehouse all day.

Robyn- Hyperballad
i’m still now sure how i feel about this. it’s funny, because i’m still not sure how i feel about robyn. i like her voice, but i’ve not found many songs i can connect with. they aren’t bad, many are quite good; i’ve actually posted one. it’s just…i don’t know. i can’t really get with them, even the songs i like. so it was nice to see her performing a song by one of my favorite artists. she does well covering a difficult song, but i have the same issue. i like it (obviously i’m posting it), but i don’t like it. i want to, though. you’re killin’ me, robyn. you’re killin’ me.

Sigur Ros- Njosnavelin
two things have had me thinking about my favorite posts here- (1) the new year is upon us, and i think it’d be fun to do a ‘best of’ post; and (2) i plan to ‘retire’ from the blog soon. i have a pretty good list in my head, but this song, which i’ve intended to post for some time now, messes things up a bit. i’m not sure if it’s in my top ten or not. sometimes yes, sometimes no. it’s probably my second favorite sigur ros song behind ‘gong’. i would have posted ‘gong’, but i already did on my blog. i’m a little tired of reblogging my own stuff. but, who knows? i might not have to decide whether this is top ten or top twenty material. i may not even make a list of favorites. laziness is a motherf*****. enjoy.

Fever Ray- Here Before
this is a cover of a vashti bunyan song that was released in 2005. you can listen to the original version here. it’s a gorgeous song, really, but i’m a member of team karin, of team…SWEDEN! that’s right. it’s another hit from team sweden. fever ray adds their moody, slightly off-kilter style to ms. bunyan’s song, and the results are magnificent. it’s darker, it’s weirder, it’s better. well, you can decide that last part yourselves. enjoy.

Adele- Rolling In The Deep
SNAP!
Ya’ll know how much I love Adele so as soon as I got this in my inbox 4 minutes ago I knew two things: 1 I would stop doing my work and listen (yes in my office) and 2 I was going to post it ass soon as I was done listening to the track.
Well let me just say that this track is awesome and I can’t wait for Adele’s new cd to come out and I’m glad that I could get this to DailyCrack with the quickness.
Enjoy!!!

Did I mention that the video doesn’t even premier until December 3rd! Yup - you got it here first (if you weren’t on Adele’s listserv that is)!!!
Jens Lekman - Your Arms Around Me

Thank you thank you thank you Drew Barrymore for using this song so aptly in the pool scene of Whip It. It was such a perfect song to use at that moment and I have absolutely fallen in love with it and with Lekman.
Jens (pronounced Yens) is of course Swedish. Apparently the staff here at DC has a fetish for the Swedes - what can we say. I’m so addicted to the quality of his instrument right about now that I might have to go out and buy all of his cds. Next time I get paid that is! Damn my poor cash flow.
But yes - I love everything about this song. Its romantic and deep and dark and so insanely beautiful that it hurts. If my life had a soundtrack this song would be the theme. At least I’d hope that events played out so that this song could be the theme : )
Anywhoo - I guess I’ll just have to settle on listening to this track on repeat for the next 2 weeks. I’m sure you’ll be forced to do the same (unless you find yourself in a higher tax bracket then myself!)!!! ENJOY!!!

Alamaailman Vasarat- Perikunta
i think that just by looking at these guys, you know you’re in for something different with this track. no guitars or bass, just the usual collection of cellos, organs, brass and woodwinds. stranger still is that it is awesome. this song kinda makes me want to join a traveling circus or i can see this being the backing track to some crazy saturday morning cartoon.
