Duke Ellington & John Coltrane - In A Sentimental Mood

dukecoltrane

What do you get when two musical geniuses collaborate? Something as timeless and beautiful as In A Sentimental Mood of course.

One of my all time favorite jazz pieces, it really is just the perfect song to sooth the soul. Whenever I imagine something romantic occuring, this is the song playing in the background. Whenever I think of someone missing a lover…this is the song playing in the background. When I…well you get the idea….

I don’t think there’s much more to say about this standard other then enjoy it now and tomorrow and always.

Peggy Lee - Fever

Peggy Lee

I don’t remember what I was doing or watching, but Beyonce’s remake of this song came on and I was utterly flabbergasted. She just doesn’t do this song any justice.

Peggy Lee was one classy dame and she made this song sizzle. There is this amazing heat - cool and smoldering that she brings to this song. Even that little quality where she rushes through saying “fe-vah” really quickly…like she was a little rushed for breath and had to get out quickly - LOVE IT!

So here’s to the classics. Enjoy!
