I know some beautiful disasters. I know some not so beautiful disasters. But you know what? Sometimes you just can’t help yourself. You KNOW when you shouldn’t be with someone…you know when someone is so self destructive that they will never let your relationship work…but sometimes you just have to get out of your system. And hopefully, every once in a while, those beautiful disasters turn themselves around.

Did I mention beautiful disasters don’t only occur in romantic relationships?

There are not very many artists who I am willing to listen to live because, let’s face it, most artists now a day reek like week old garbage when singing live. Alicia Keys, John Legend, Prince, Kelly Clarkson, Shakira - all have wonderful live cds out there. For most of the rest…I’ll stick to their studio albums. But this…one of the few songs I prefer the live recording to the studio one. Go on with your bad self Ms. Clarkson.

Jump Little Children- Cathedrals (live)

this is a great performance. it’s a quiet little song performed in a somewhat intimate setting. it almost feel like it’s a private performance. the lead singer has a wonderful voice, and he uses it well here. i’ve seen other videos of their live shows, and he sometimes does a little too much. that’s not true in this case. i really enjoy it. it’s soothing, and i appreciate that. check it out. i hope you like it.

One youtube commenter said it best “This real meaning of the song comes out in this version. It’s about a man deciding if he should battle for his life. So I think sounds better this way. More dramatic than an 80’s dance song.”  I don’t necessarily think it sounds better, but different and I like it.  Like I said before i’ve been in a yacht rock state of mind.  So enjoy the slow version, which rubs a little cheese off of it.

Erykah Badu - I Want You (live)

Hands down one of my favorite songs and favorite performance videos.  Erykah kills it.  She  jumps on the bells and the drum pads, dances, and has great interaction with ehr band and the audience.  Erykah is the queen, i don’t really know the queen of what, but she’s one of my queens in music.  I’ll never stop being a fan, which is why it’s killing me that new amerykah part 2 and the “before music dies” project with get this, questlove, wendy and lisa, and jazzy jeff.

Favorite Live Performances

B.o.B. - I’ll be n da Sky first off, why do people spell out official song titles incorrect. i felt real stupid writing that out. anyway i’ve been hearing about B.o.B. for a while. i remember checking for him when he got on the cover of URB. I listened to Haterz Everywhere and was completely lost. i did not get the hype at all. so when he was doing a concert with Lupe Fiasco i went late because i figured another rapper with a terrible show, why would i waste my time. man… i’m kicking myself now for missing most of his show. B.o.B. murdered it. this kid is a hell of a performer and has a great band. in comparison… i walked out of Lupe’s show. with his “band” that consisted of a drummer and guitar player that were both way too loud playing over the beats that the dj played. also, he used one too many justice songs as his backing tracks.
