Luther Ingram- I Don’t Want to be Right

always been one of my favorite songs. i hope someone told him the answer to his questions is ‘yes. very much, yes.’ by the way, keep an eye out for the michelle obama look-a-like somewhere around the 3 minute mark (3:15).

Los Zafiros- He Venido

i think i’m growing more fond of this type of music. it hasn’t always been my cup of tea. now, i get a sense of nostalgia that i shouldn’t feel when i listen to it seeing that i wasn’t alive during the doo-wop period. it’s nice. i’m probably less than two years away from buying the doo-wop box-sets from pbs.

Adele - Someone Like You (Live)

Adele

Adele - Someone Like You (Live)

What it is DailyCrack? I know I’ve been gone a while but you know how that goes…sometimes life gets in the way of living. Also, I was quite possibly (quite definitely) jaded with the site for a while. But that’s neither here nor there.

Adele’s sophomore effort is too much for me to keep to myself so here I am in all of my Adele loving glory (4th Adele post from me!) to give you all a peek at the CD that I preordered AND went out to buy today because (drumroll please) only Target has a deluxe version with 4 live extra recordings which I HAD to have!

This gem is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking and breathtaking. Who CAN’T relate to this one? If you can’t…you’re one lucky bitch.

Kick back and enjoy right after you run out to buy this CD!

Nina Simone- I Put a Spell on You

It’s undeniable that Nina Simone breathed new life into her now more famous version of this classic. Her voice is soultry, haunting, a little bit naughty, and you can’t help but to be hypnotized.

George Strait- Run

i don’t really get into too much country, but this one is a jam. all sentimental ‘n such. george really, really wants to see this woman. maybe she owes him a lot a money?  some of my friends wore this song out for me a few years ago, but after (finding it) and listening again, i still really enjoy it. my dad would laugh himself to death if he knew i was posting a country song, so don’t tell him, okay?

Louis Armstrong- A Kiss to Build a Dream On

i heard this song in a cafe not that long ago. i wanted to post it that day, but forgot. this post is another of those cases where i randomly thought about the artist, but couldn’t remember the song. fortunately, with a little detective work, i found it and was able to post it. i’m sure everyone knows that mr. armstrong was an accomplished musician, but i enjoy his voice more than his playing. that isn’t to disparage his ability to play an instrument, it’s just i could easily live with it he’d decided to pass the trumpet duties to someone else. this is great stuff. enjoy.

Jens Lekman - Your Arms Around Me

Thank you thank you thank you Drew Barrymore for using this song so aptly in the pool scene of Whip It. It was such a perfect song to use at that moment and I have absolutely fallen in love with it and with Lekman.

Jens (pronounced Yens) is of course Swedish. Apparently the staff here at DC has a fetish for the Swedes - what can we say. I’m so addicted to the quality of his instrument right about now that I might have to go out and buy all of his cds. Next time I get paid that is! Damn my poor cash flow.

But yes - I love everything about this song. Its romantic and deep and dark and so insanely beautiful that it hurts. If my life had a soundtrack this song would be the theme. At least I’d hope that events played out so that this song could be the theme : )

Anywhoo - I guess I’ll just have to settle on listening to this track on repeat for the next 2 weeks. I’m sure you’ll be forced to do the same (unless you find yourself in a higher tax bracket then myself!)!!! ENJOY!!!
