Katteni-Shiyagare- Auvers Blue
this is the theme song from the series ‘kemonozume,’ performed by katteni-shiyagare of japan. it’s an energetic, jazz-infused romp. i like that the lead singer sounds as if he just woke up after a long night of carousing. the backing band is great, as well. good stuff all around.

Amy Winehouse - (There Is) No Greater Love
I’m gonna end today on a nostalgic note. At some point there was just a girl with a great voice and a troubled soul. This final post is dedicated to that girl - sweet and wicked talented. Rest in peace Amy Winehouse. I hope you found the peace on the other side that you couldn’t find in this lifetime. Your music will definitely live on.

Amy Winehouse - Some Unholy War
I love her voice. I love the arrangement. I know Back to Black was only 11 tracks but that album was 110% badass. This song belongs in the soundtrack of some revenge movie. During an 80s montage. Girl clutching to her man as he shoots they’re way out of some seedy joint and hopping onto a motorcycle that will take them off into the sunset.
Yea…I think way too much about this stuff. Great song though.

Amy Winehouse - Stronger Than Me
I’m falling in love with her all over again today….

Amy Winehouse - You Know I’m No Good
Doing this little musical tribute to a great talent today has made me realize something - Amy Winehouse was constantly downing herself. She had nothing positive to say about herself which is just heartbreaking. She’s trouble. She’s no good.
Celebrities who are self destructive get a lot of attention because people mourn a loss of talent - whether they have 2 albums or a dozen, a tv show or a slew of movies. But what about those ordinary Joes and Janes who probably have more in common with those individuals then any of the rest of us might ever have? Pain recognizes pain. What are you going to do to ease someone’s pain today?

Amy Winehouse with Mark Ronson - Valerie
I have to admit I wasn’t quite too fond of this version of Valerie for a while. Not because its bad but just because I really liked the slower version. In case you didn’t know, I am very resistant to dance versions of songs. Call it what you will, dance versions just tend to annoy me.
Anywhoo, the song did grow on my and I do love it now. Its fun and upbeat and makes me want to dance around my apartment singing into a hairbrush. Plus the Charlie Murphy reference is just HYSTERICAL. Amy was funny on the low.

Amy Winehouse - Fuck Me Pumps
This song cracks me up. And if you’ve never seen the video you should check it up - the two little girls in the middle crack me up.
LISTEN TO THAT VOICE! Jazzy fuck me pumps.
*sigh*

Amy Winehouse - Rehab
I had my reservations about posting the video for rehab but you know what - its Amy! This is who she was. Jazzy and fierce with attitude for days. And she never pretended she was perfect.
Love the band in the background. Addiction is a disease and I’m just sad that she didn’t beat it before it beat her.

Amy Winehouse - Someone to Watch Over Me
I saw this picture and knew I had to post it with this song. A softer side of Ms. Winehouse that we hadn’t seen in a while. I know that Amy Winehouse had her issues with the album Frank, saying that it wasn’t 100% true to who she is…but…who can deny that its a force of the album. It showed everyone that there wasn’t anyone quite like her around. Great cover of an amazing standard. How I’m gonna miss that voice.
