John Legend - Ordinary People
This is dedicated to Happy Mushroom today. I know its tough right now hun just remember none of us knows which way to go at times. If this song ain’t the truth about relationships I don’t know what is. Just know I’m here for you if and when you need me.
a good friend of mine put me onto this. be careful when you listen to this one. it might make you think about someone you’d prefer to forget. you might find yourself on your knees in the rain, crying your eyes out, and raging at the heavens. yes. you might become aaron hall. can’t say i didn’t warn you. the man can sang, though. enjoy (at your own risk!).
don’t know how i stumbled upon this, but i’m glad i did. i can’t stop listening it. the only downside is i wish the group were called toots & boots. i forgive ‘em, though. enjoy.
David Cook has been one of the few American Idols who I have liked from the beginning of the season to the end. From his audition to the finale I have always felt Mr. Cook. I love his cool rocker vibe and how he tears up songs from other genres while adding his twist to it. Don’t even get me started on his version of Lionel Richie’s Hello (one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists done so damn well).
Needless to say, besides Kelly Clarkson, David Cook is the only AI contestant who has a CD I have purchased. I should prolly go buy 1 or 2 others but I’m just lazy. So for now enjoy my favorite song from his album.
i can feel the sweat dripping off this one. i can smell the cigarette smoke. this one makes me feel like i haven’t slept in days, and, lawd help me, my woman just won’t do right. but you don’t even have to listen to him sing to feel all that. he could’ve just let the bassline tell it. enjoy.
i went on a jazz vocalist kick a few years ago and came across ms. vaughan. i listened to a few things and liked them, but i was drawn to this song more than any other. i really dig those horns, and she glides over them gracefully. it says a lot that although i haven’t listened to any of her cds in a while, i still find myself singing this song from time to time. also, if i am ever curious to locate and listen to her music, this song is the inspiration. enjoy.
edit: i’ve decided to add a second video. this is 9 crimes from the same performance. i can’t decide which of these songs i like more. i don’t think you can lose, really. they both have wonderful voices that complement each other. so, enjoy today’s double rainbow.

Blackstreet - Don’t Leave
This song has been stuck in my head for a couple of weeks now. I have random outbursts where i say to people “if.. you… take… your… love away from me, i’ll go crazy, crazy, crazy insane.” This is from the great time period where there were still r&b groups and the groups actually new how to sing. When teddy riley was rocking out on the vocoder and playing homage to the original roger troutman. This song is the truth, can’t deny it at all.
P.S. the green screen in this video is almost worse then it on ichat.
First, I would chalk it up and fall in love with erykah, put the baduizm on me, screw it. But you gotta love the tongue and cheek aspect of this song. She knows all about that baudizm she puts on folks (jay electronica, common, andre 3000, and the d.o.c.). This was one of the stand out tracks for me from New Amerykah pt. 2. This album sounds a little more accessible and “in the box” for most listeners. I prefer my erykah a little further out there, but good album anyway.
hmmm…i don’t have much to say about this one. i heard it for the first time yesterday? the day before? i like the song, and i plan to check out more of their stuff in the near future. they’ve been compared to grizzly bear, which is good. i don’t know if that’s fair or not. we’ll see. enjoy.
