Adele - Someone Like You (Live)

Adele - Someone Like You (Live)
What it is DailyCrack? I know I’ve been gone a while but you know how that goes…sometimes life gets in the way of living. Also, I was quite possibly (quite definitely) jaded with the site for a while. But that’s neither here nor there.
Adele’s sophomore effort is too much for me to keep to myself so here I am in all of my Adele loving glory (4th Adele post from me!) to give you all a peek at the CD that I preordered AND went out to buy today because (drumroll please) only Target has a deluxe version with 4 live extra recordings which I HAD to have!
This gem is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking and breathtaking. Who CAN’T relate to this one? If you can’t…you’re one lucky bitch.
Kick back and enjoy right after you run out to buy this CD!

last year i talked about how valentine’s is a day to celebrate different types of love and the many forms it can take. this year, it’s more about romantic love, but, in keeping with the theme, the songs featured below cover the gamut: from “you know i luh you!,” to “girl, i wanna hit them skins,” to “please don’t go away from meeeeeeeeee!” (*wanye head-shake*) but, you know, there are many people out there who just think it’s monday. if that’s you, just scroll down to the bottom. see? a little something for everyone. click the links below and enjoy.
1. luther vandross- never too much
2. chet baker- my funny valentine
3. method man feat. maryj. blige- you’re all i need
4. blue & exile- no greater love
5. michael jackson- i can’t help it
6. estelle feat. sean paul- come over
7. michel’le- something in my heart
8. louis armstrong- a kiss to build a dream on
11. robin thicke- lost without you
14. isaac hayes- i stand accused
16. fiona apple- pale september

Damnit, it’s just Monday!: Cam’ron feat. Juelz Santana- Oh Boy
Nina Simone- I Put a Spell on You
It’s undeniable that Nina Simone breathed new life into her now more famous version of this classic. Her voice is soultry, haunting, a little bit naughty, and you can’t help but to be hypnotized.

Jay-z & Beanie Sigel- Once Again It’s On
these two were adorable then, right. unfortunately, i don’t know if we’ll see this scene again any time soon. i guess beanie didn’t know that when jay described the roc as family, he was talking more to the people than the other artists on the label. if not that, he had to learn that once you get your foot in the door, you have to make your own way. …and you have to stay out of jail if you want some semblance of a career (seemed like that should have been a given). i guess those are hard lessons. but, listen to this and reminisce on the happier times.

Tyler, the Creator- Inglorious
each time i’ve read about tyler, the creator and the rest of his crew, ofwgkta, the discussion has been that their sound is what’s next. it’s a countercultural movement brought on in reaction to today’s popular hip-hop music. that may or may not be true, but i decided to post the song primarily because tyler is nice. he writes and produces his own stuff as well as material for other members including earl sweatshirt (who also is nice) and domo genesis, and, as i said, he’s good at it. as far as the material is concerned, it’s very much the music of a young person (if i read correctly, tyler, the creator, at 19, is the oldest of the bunch). there’s a lot of talk about sex, murder, and anger. there are more than the usual share of ‘fuck you’s’ and ‘i don’t give a fuck’s’. it seems somewhat typical of teenagers, but not so much in a way that you’d expect to hear on the radio. tyler’s (and earl’s) music is what you’d expect from the kids who annoy the hell out of everyone who has the misfortune of taking public transportation when school lets out. having said that, i chose this song in particular because it’s what i imagine you’d hear if you conversed with one of those kids about their families. unfortunately, many kids are brought up in single-parent households; tyler, the creator is one of them. this song expresses his anger, his embarrassment, and his frustration at his father’s absence. it strikes me as a very genuine moment. i’m probably just thinking too much.

Tina Turner - I Don’t Wanna Fight

If you don’t get this song right away, then dare I say you’ve never been in a real relationship. Everyone, I don’t care who, has gotten to this point with something they love. And usually it’s not a clear matter of right and wrong. We just create expectations for each other sometimes that no one can live up to. Although in Tina’s case it was DEF a clear case of right and wrong.
So…enjoy this track. I love it and I hope you do as well.
